Mohammad Amir Hopes to Play in IPL 2026 After Getting a British Passport
Pakistan’s fast bowler Mohammad Amir is hopeful that he will be able to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2026 once he receives his British passport. Amir also revealed that his favorite IPL team is Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), where Virat Kohli plays. He is optimistic about registering for the IPL 2026 auction.
Amir expressed his admiration for Kohli, and Pakistani cricketer Ahmed Shehzad also mentioned that RCB needs a fast bowler like Amir in their lineup. Amir has shown great enthusiasm about becoming part of the IPL and believes that by 2026, it will be possible. Since his wife is a British citizen, he is expecting to obtain a British passport, which will help him get his name listed for the auction.
Pakistani players have not been part of the IPL since the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, but Amir hopes to change that by participating in the tournament from the next season onwards. Additionally, he stated that he would adore playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore, which would allow him to play with Virat Kohli.
Speaking on the show “Harna Mana Hai”, Amir said,
“By next year, I should have the opportunity to play in the IPL, and if I get the chance, why not? I will play in the IPL.”
He further added,
“Playing for RCB would be a dream come true for me, as they are the IPL team I admire the most.”
Amir Praises Virat Kohli: “He is Great and Appreciates Talent”
Amir was full of praise for Kohli, calling him a great player who truly values talent. He fondly recalled the time when Kohli gifted him a bat, which left him deeply touched. Amir also mentioned that he has played some good innings with that bat.
Amir praised Virat, stating, “He is an exceptional cricketer who truly values talent.”
Amir reminisced, “He presented me with his bat, and I was deeply moved by his kindness. I’ve always admired his batting, and he holds my bowling in high regard.” I even played some great innings using his bat.”
Ahmed Shehzad, who was also part of the show, emphasized that RCB needs a bowler like Amir to strengthen their squad. He believes that with Amir in the team, RCB could finally win an IPL title.
The 32-year-old Shehzad stated,
“To strengthen their bowling attack, RCB could greatly benefit from a pacer like Amir.” Despite having a potent batting lineup, they have never been good at bowling. If Amir plays for RCB, they can win the title.”
